Our committee

Kensington City Soccer Club is a family-oriented and community-based club run by volunteers, dedicated to helping people of all ages develop their skills and promote the enjoyment of soccer. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of we’d love to hear from you.

Susan Rushworth, President

“My love for soccer was sparked when my daughter started playing in 2011. I coached her team for a couple of years and started thinking I wish I could play this game too. I got involved with the committee managing the club and served as president for a couple of years.

When Kensington City started a women’s team, I asked if I could join just for training, and help out with the committee. When I got the chance to play a practice match, I loved it so now I play whenever I’m needed.

Kensington City SC is really welcoming and I’m grateful my daughter doesn’t mind her mum playing for the same club as her.”

Sponsorship & Fundraising
Co-ordinator

  • Sponsorship and Fundraising Co-Ordinator, Melina Caccetta, is all things local. Having started the Kensington Traders Association many life times ago, along with having her own businesses in Kensington, Melina believes in community, and local support.

"It was an easy decision to take on the role as Sponsorship Co-Ordinator. Local sports play such a pivotal role in the community and is essential for bringing individuals together. It is wonderful to have the financial support from Kensington businesses. With their assistance, we are building a strong, viable and dynamic club."

Head Coach

  • My journey with soccer started in 1975 and I’ve continued either playing (outdoor or indoor), coaching and/or on Committees ever since. I started coaching kids at Cranbourne in the 1990’s and started senior coaching as an assistant at Seaford Soccer Club in the late 1990’s.

My association with Kensington Junior Soccer Club started in 2012 when my daughter started playing, in 2018 I established the boys side of the Junior Club and have coached both girls and boys teams since 2013. I am the current President of the Kensington Junior Soccer Club.

State League 5 Coach

  • Hi, I am Juan also known as Campana and I have been part of the Kensington City Soccer Club since the early 90s. I joined the Kensington club shortly after arriving in Australia because of my love of playing soccer.

As a kid, I always played goalkeeper and was glad to keep playing this position throughout my time at Kensington. When I stopped playing I became a coach for the next few years for the men’s soccer team as well as coaching the junior soccer teams’ goalkeepers. I greatly enjoyed this as I was able to share my knowledge and love of soccer with the next generation.

After the men’s team was disbanded Kensington City Soccer Club opened a women’s team, to which I was fortunate enough to coach. In recent years I have continued to coach the women’s team and worked closely with the Kensington Community to help develop and grow this club into a respected and well-established organisation in the Kensington community.

Player Recruiter

  • KCSC was my first senior club experience at the age of 16, I was coached by Juan Cuellar who is the club’s number-one supporter and longest-serving member. With having KCSC as my Sunday match outlet throughout the majority of my life, I’ve seen this club grow and our facilities upgraded from having a solid dirt ground with no grass to having a full synthetic pitch.

In 2017 the committee decided to start a women’s side with the focus on being open to all skill level. We advertised and attracted 18 players in which the majority had never played soccer previously. We entered the VICSOCCER competition and finished 3rd – an incredible result we will never forget. Coaching was a fantastic experience and teaching the foundations of soccer to a group of players wanting to learn made the coaching side easier.

My coaching staff consisted of Jared, Juan Cuéllar, Juan Milla, and Steven Gimenez who I have a lot to thank for. Throughout the years I’ve participated in many roles and wouldn’t of been able to achieve much without having a knowledgeable and supportive committee. Today I continue to help the club remotely wherever I can.

I have a positive feeling that this club will continue to head towards the right direction with the focus of providing competition at a level to suit the wants of as many players as possible, that includes having competitive and social teams to cater for all. This focus is crucial in order to continue on the right path towards growth and success.

Volunteers

  • Teresa Coldebella is team manager for the State League 4 team where her daughter Alessia plays. She also helps the club with applications for government grants. Teresa was involved in the Kensington Junior Girls Soccer Club since her two daughters started playing in 2012.

She volunteered as team manager and coach and facilitated the club’s participation in the post season “summer sevens competition”. After 6 years of “active service” she received the President’s Life Membership.

  • Hi I’m Luisa, I have been apart of the Kensington soccer club since 1990. I have helped the club by working behind the scenes and preparing food for sales at the games and working at the canteen. I loved being able to share traditional El Salvadoran foods at the games with the local community.

I’ve loved watching the club grow and expand by creating a women’s team, involving more of the community in a great sport and being a part of this great community.

Honourable mentions

Treasurer

  • Who says you have to be a player to contribute to a wonderful club? I was invited to a season launch from a pal who played in the mens league. It was an incredible fun night, instantly felt welcomed and part of the Kensington community. Somehow kept finding myself attending games over the years, actually learning the rules of soccer and enjoying seeing our woman’s league come to life.

I attended a committee meeting to assist with my knowledge of excel. With my professional background in retail analysis and planning, was more than happy to help. Fast forward to the AGM and I was encouraged to nominate for treasurer which I successfully undertook the position for 3 years.

Im proud as a committee we paved our way through some incredibly tough and challenging times. We successfully forged our club forward, removing debt inherited from previous seasons, providing new playing kits and equipment, banding together and keeping our club alive throughout covid and most importantly, forging the beginnings of pathways from juniors to seniors leagues and providing a fun, inclusive space for women players to unite and thrive.

My final call out is, you don’t have to be a die hard soccer fanatic to support and feel part of the Kensington community. Player or committee support, the club feels like an extension of your family. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and develop so many skills. It’s a wonderful feeling being part of a great community club.

Ex-President

  • Pat started with KCSC simply observing games. The community feel of the team compelled him to volunteer with the board, where he was eventually elected club president.

Outside of KCSC, Pat works with organisations that train dogs for the blind.
